For some reason I never really visit Stanwick even though it is such a short drive for me. After todays visit I will for sure visit again, they often host outdoor cinema events and sporting events. I have not ventured around all of the trails but I will visit again in the warmer weather! The new play area addition is huge and ideal for all – with water, sand and an obstacle course thee is something for everyone.

Stanwick Lakes, Wellingborough NN9 6GY
⏰ Time spent
3 hours but on a summer day you can easily spend all day
15 min ish drive from Kettering. Plenty of parking, I tend to park in Irthlingborough and walk in.
Free to visit on food or cycle in. Car parking charges as of website are October - March £3.80 all day. Please check after spring for the latest costs.
Toilets outdoors behind the refreshments cabin. 2 toilets and 1 household at a time I can imagine it gets busy at weekends. A cabin selling the usual refreshments - little pricey but as expected. Hot dogs for £3.50 which is a great idea for a winter warmer!
Firstly the walks around the lakes are lovely. Places to stop for picnics, and areas with educational resources. It’s a place where you can easily find something new you haven’t seen before! Great for pushchairs and bicycles. I saw lots of children’s with scooters.
The play area is brilliant!! The first part is perfect for younger children with a slide, sand, bridges climbing. This leads to a pirate ship perfect for imaginative play and a huge climbing frame. Swings, and for summer months a great water play area.
The grand finale In this area is a huge new wooden adventure playground. It uses lots of different motors skills crawling, climbing, balancing it has it all. We struggled with Alfie being 2 but he still could access some areas it would be perfect for ages 4+.
For the older children if you follow the pathed areas it leads you to a huge obstacle course! Great for older children but be warned it’s incredibly muddy at the moment!
🌻 Mother tripper tips
Although the walks are mostly paved it is full of puddles which was perfect for us but be sure to take your wellies! Visit in the week today was perfect less than 5 kids on the play areas. I can imagine weekends get incredibly busy especially at the moment.
ℹ Additional information
All outdoors. Lots of areas to explore you can easily disappear off a busy track in search of quieter areas. The play area doesn’t have hand sanitiser so take your own.
